Local Memphian, Drew Morris is not just any musician with a taste for creative, funky Electronic Dance Music(EDM).

Drew also has a passion for audio and media production, working behind the scenes of all thing's multimedia.

Drew has used his own experience and is now helping other artists make their dreams come true through Station 8 Productions.

In just a few years, Drew has gained respect in the industry, and he is now playing events in and outside of Memphis under the name ‘DrewBeats’.

Q: You had to start somewhere! When did your journey from Drew Morris to DrewBeats begin?

A: I've been involved with some type of music my whole life. My mom teaches Kindermusik, a musical education program for children, and had me playing all types of instruments from an early age. I'm very grateful to have had that experience growing up. I started DrewBeats in 2018 when I was 25.

Q: EDM has a ton of subcategories. Where did your unique style come from?

A: I was about 18 when I really fell in love with electronic music. I began creating electronic music in 2012 and I knew pretty quickly that this was the musical journey I had been waiting to embark on.

Q: To DJ is much simpler than producing music. Has your goal always been to work your way into producing or did it stem from being a DJ?

A: I went to college on a vocal scholarship, but college was not for me. I dropped out and began producing music like crazy. It was shortly after that I realized I can't produce this music and not be able to DJ. So, I learned to DJ and started playing shows anywhere I could. I wanted to be able to express myself more than just through DJing though, so I've been incorporating live elements in my sets.

Q: It takes most musicians years to be recognized. How did you get your content so far out there that you are now performing outside of Memphis so quickly?

A: Networking with like-minded individuals making big moves has played a key factor. Last year I teamed up with Kryptic Sound and they handle all my management and bookings now.

Q: You had the opportunity to play a set after Juicy J, which is huge! What other events have been truly significant to you?

A: That was truly wild! Probably when I got to open for SoDown in Charlotte, NC. It was my first out of town gig as DrewBeats and it had a massive impact on my trajectory.

Q: Station 8 Productions is making a solid foundation here in Memphis. What is Station 8 Productions exactly and what is your role in the company?

A: We believe you don't have to look far to find greatness in this city.

Station 8 Productions is an audio/video production company that Nick Hein, Bret Max, and me run. We are a full multimedia studio that offers music video services, ad spots, marketing content, and event coverage, as well as audio services. We do it all!

I run the audio side of things at Station 8. I always make it my goal to help bring the artists’ vision to life.

Q: Besides revenue, what is your end goal as DrewBeats?

A: My ultimate goal for DrewBeats is to be respected in the community and incorporate positive vibes in everything I do. I want to make people smile and dance and feel something they haven't before simultaneously.
