Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell is a Grammy Award winning Memphis native who owns the famous Royal Studios in Memphis, TN.

Royal Studios has been a studio since 1957; the studio is the fourth oldest studio in the world, and third oldest in the country. Over time, Royal Studios has helped produce music for major artists such as John Mayer, Bobby Blue Bland, and Al Green, to name a few.

The studio was first owned by Boo’s father, Willie Mitchell, who is responsible for the four consecutive No. 1 records with Al Green. The studio is known for producing and engineering all of Al Green’s award-winning albums.

Boo took over the studio when his father passed away in January of 2010. However, prior to his passing, Boo and his father, Willie, worked on several projects together.

Boo is known for integrating artists from all over the country. With the studio in a convenient location, it has become a staple for artists from all over to get into the studio with him.

Boo Mitchell received his first Grammy Award for producing Mark Ronson’s popular song “Uptown Funk,” featuring Bruno Mars.

Currently, Boo is working closely with Lina Beach on her debut album titled “Little Sanities.” Lina Beach spent time in the studio with Boo as an intern from Rhodes College, and that is how Boo “discovered” her talent and wanted to bring her music to life.

Lina says Boo has been one of her biggest inspirations alongside her mother who is also a singer/songwriter.
